
Lankiewicz Sets A-10 Record on Second Day

GENEVA, Ohio – Junior Elise Lankiewicz set the Atlantic 10 500-freestyle record on day two of the 2016 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday night at SPIRE Institute.
Lankiewicz swam a time of 4:44.88 that was four seconds faster than the competition, qualified for a NCAA B standard time and set a Davidson record to begin the second day of the championships.
In addition to Lankiewicz, Katy Williams, Kassie Shannon, Angie Healy all scored in the top-10. Williams swam a time of 2:03.54 in the 200 IM to place fifth and set a school record, while Shannon recorded a fifth-place time of 23.28, while Healy followed at 23.37 in the 50 freestyle.
The women capped the night with a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay. Lankiewicz, Erica Clancy, Shannon and Healy put together a time of 1:32.65 for 34 points.
On the men's side, Davidson posted six top-15 finishes. Riley League led he way with a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:50.49 in the 200 IM. Clay Resweber followed with a sixth-place showing in the 500 freestyle (4:29.93).
Luke Burton was the top finisher for the Wildcats in the 50 freestyle. The senior took a time of 20.68 to place seventh.
The 200 freestyle relay finished the night with the highest placing for the men. Taylor Willenbring, Burton, Cameron Bard and Colin MacKay put together a time of 1:21.19 that placed third.
Action resumes tomorrow morning with the preliminary events beginning at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 6:30 p.m.
