Nichols Announces New Additions To 2016 Staff

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson head coach Paul Nichols announced the hiring of four additions to the 2016 football staff Friday. Combined, the four coaches add over 50 years of coaching experience, including at the BCS and NFL levels.
Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Vinny Marino, defensive line coach Ray McCartney, offensive line coach Matt Applebaum and special teams coordinator and running backs coach Mario Price have all been added to the staff. (Click each name to view their full bio.)
Marino comes to Davidson after spending two seasons at Boston College as the assistant director of player personnel. A 1992 UConn graduate, Marino was the offensive coordinator at Georgetown, Columbia and Holy Cross. MEET COACH MARINO
No stranger to the state of North Carolina, McCartney joins the staff after two years as the defensive line coach at Army. Prior to that, McCartney spent 13 seasons at Wake Forest working for 2006 National Coach of the Year Jim Grobe. McCartney will also have the title assistant head coach. MEET COACH McCARTNEY
Applebaum comes to Davidson after spending the 2015 season as Southeastern Louisiana's offensive line coach. Prior to Southeastern, Applebaum spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Washington Redskins in various roles. MEET COACH APPLEBAUM
A 2007 graduate of Baylor University, Price comes to Davidson after three seasons at Louisiana Monroe. In 2015, Price coached running backs in addition to being the recruiting coordinator after two seasons of coaching inside wide receivers. MEET COACH PRICE
