
Wildcats Set New Mark at HPU Team Challenge

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Highlighted by program records in the 800 and the 4x400 relay, the Davidson women's track team had a strong showing at the High Point Team Challenge Thursday night at the JDL Fast Track.

Junior Hannah Rieden stopped the clock at 2:14.77 in the half mile to break her previous record of 2:15.83 set at this meet a year ago. The junior placed second.
The 4x400 meter relay also placed second with a new program mark. The foursome of Rieden, Ashlyn Gruber, Tori Long and Brigid Behrens finished in 4:00.00 to take down the previous record of 4:01.62.
Behrens and Gruber also earned top-10 finishes in the 800 meter. Behrens posted a time of 2:19.30 to take seventh, while Gruber crossed in 2:23.29 to take eighth.
In the one-mile, Sarah Sears paced the pack of Davidson runners as the sophomore turned in a personal best time of 5:00.41 to take fifth overall. Caroline Yarbrough wasn't far behind, registering a time of 5:04.76, good for sixth place.
Laney O'Shea earned a 13th place finish after covering the distance in 5:24.37. Caroline Turner (5:30.74) and Rachel McKay (5:33.05) were the next two Wildcats to finish the one-mile, placing 18th and 19th, respectively.
In the lengthy 3,000, Hayden Bates posted a top-10 finish. Bates recorded a time of 10:32.94 to take ninth. Abby Fry (11:08.02) and Anna Buser (11:09.93) ranked 14th and 16th, respectively.
Morgan McGrath earned a 13th place finish in the 400-meter event with a time of 1:03.67.
Davidson returns to action Feb. 20-21 for the 2015 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championship on the campus of Rhode Island.
