DAVIDSON, N.C. — After helping Davidson score its second straight win, junior forward Mackenzie Latt was named College Sports Madness Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played from December 12-18.
The A-10 All-Preseason Third Team pick grabbed her first career weekly player honor by the website CollegeSportsMadness.com. Last year, Dakota Dukes earned a player of the week by the website.
After a 10-day break for exams, Latt and the Wildcats netted their second straight win with a 71-61 victory over visiting Furman last Sunday. The forward had her best game to date, matching her career high with 25 points on a personal-best 11 field goals on 17 attempts. Latt also led the team with eight rebounds, while adding her 14th and 15th block and steal, respectively, in the decision.
The junior pushed her double-figure scoring streak to seven, while reaching the 20-point mark for the first time this year and sixth overall in her career. She has paced the team in scoring five times through the first 10 games, while seven times leading the 'Cats in rebounding, which included her first double-double
With her 25 points, Latt moved to within 89 points of reaching 1,000 for her career as she looks to become the program's 19th player to accomplish the feat.
Davidson heads down Interstate 77 Wednesday evening to face cross-county rival Charlotte at 6 p.m.
