Lankiewicz Breaks Own School Record on Opening Day of TPI

GAMBIER, Ohio – After nearly a month of training, Davidson swimming and diving returned to the pool Thursday at the Total Performance Invite, hosted by Kenyon College.
Senior stalwart Elise Lankiewicz continued her trend of dominance, taking first in the 1,650 freestyle. Lankiewicz clocked in at 16:29.13, setting a new school record, previously held by herself and set at the same meet a year ago. (TPI '15, 16:34.99)
Lankiewicz also swam leadoff in the 800 free relay, where she and classmate Kassie Shannon, sophomore Maggie Farrell and junior Sarah Coats finished at 7:34.54, coming in fifth overall and recording a new season-best.
The quartet of freshman Haley Fullerton, Coats, rookie Olivia Stanley and senior Erica Clancy also sprinted to a new top time this season, touching in at 1:47.26 in the 200 medley relay (7th overall).
On the men's side, freshman Crossan Cooper, fresh off an Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week accolade, recorded the eighth-best time in program history in the 1,650 free (16:05.93).
The men's 800 free relay consisting of juniors Riley League, Clay Resweber, and Cole Riggan, and freshman Brian Hynes finished just out of the Top Eight, pulling in a ninth-place finish at 6:48.45, marking the best time in the event this season.
