GAMBIER, Ohio — Another school record and three new all-time performances highlighted Davidson swimming and diving's second day at the Total Performance Invitational, hosted by Kenyon College.
Despite having her individual events' unbeaten streak snapped earlier in the evening, senior standout Elise Lankiewicz broke her second school record in as many days, taking home first place in the 100 backstroke at 55.16. As with Thursday, she broke her own record, which was set in 2014 at the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association's Championships (55.58).
The two-time Atlantic 10 Performer of the Year also recorded a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:47.56) and fourth in the 50 freestyle (23.46). During the morning's preliminary swims, Lankiewicz turned in the team's top time of the season in the 200 free (1:47.33).
Fellow veteran Erica Clancy also turned in a strong performance in the 50 freestyle, touching ahead of Lankiewicz for a third-place showing. Her time of 23.37 ranks tied for fifth on the All-Time Performances list.
Additionally, a pair of IMers' registered new program Top 10's. For the third time this season, freshman Crossan Cooper broke into the all-time performances, recording the fifth-best time in program history in the 400 IM (4:02.10). He was joined by junior Cole Riggan, who clocked in at 4:02.48, good enough for sixth all-time.
Sophomore Emily Yang set a new season-best in the 200 fly, finishing fifth overall (2:06.60).
A trio of relays rounded out the Top 8 finishers; the men's 200 free quartet of senior Chris Cardwell and juniors Taylor Willenbring, Clay Resweber and Ari Snyder took fifth overall with a time of 1:23.53, the top time for the event on the team this season.
The women's 400 medley relay of freshmen Alexis LeMone and Isabella McElrath, sophomore Maggie Farrell and Lankiewicz, came in fourth (3:52.39), while the men finished sixth (3:23.91- freshman Brian Hynes, Willenbring, freshman Alex Strasser, Resweber), recording a new top time for the event on the team this year.
