NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Maxi Pragnell of the Davidson men's soccer team has been named to the Atlantic 10 Conference first-team, as announced by the league office Wednesday morning.
"We are so happy for Maxi to culminate his senior campaign with this well-deserved honor – a feather in his cap," said Davidson head coach Matt Spear.
"It's an honor to be named all-conference," commented Pragnell. "We've been on the end of some tough luck this season but I couldn't be happier to spend it with my teammates, especially as we kept fighting until the very end. It's a great way to end my career here at Davidson and looking back I wouldn't change it for the world. I've had an incredible time with this program and I'm grateful to my family, friends and coaches in helping me mature over these past four years."
A senior from Kingston, Jamaica, Pragnell led the A-10 in points (20), points per game (1.18), goals (9) and goals per game (0.53). In addition, his three game-winning goals were second among league leaders.
"His numbers underline his impact and shows that talent plus intensity leads to production. Maxi "gives no quarter" as he is one of the most relentless competitors on the field that I have coached," Spear said.
The tri-captain concludes his standout career with 16 goals, 17 assists and 49 total points.
Despite not advancing to postseason play, Davidson will host the 2016 Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Tournament, Nov. 10, 11 and 13 at Alumni Stadium.
