DAVIDSON, N.C. – In a rematch from the beginning of the conference season, Davidson volleyball will play host to VCU in its final home game of the 2016 campaign Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
The Wildcats will celebrate their two senior captains, setter Mikayla Derochie and middle blocker Emily Franklin, prior to the match.
The team currently sits in sixth place, the last qualifying spot for the Atlantic 10 Tournament in mid-November. With three matches remaining on the slate, Saturday's match proves critical for the 'Cats quest for the championships. They started their 2016 conference campaign against the Rams, falling 3-1 back in late September.

THE FINAL FAREWELL
Saturday will mark the last time Derochie and Franklin suit up in Belk Arena. The two have combined for 680 blocks, 870 kills, 930 digs, and 95 service aces. Both will end their careers in the Davidson record books, and are looking to lead their young squad to the school's first A-10 Tournament berth in school history.
BLOCKING THEIR WAY TO THE TOP
Davidson continues to lead the conference in blocking with 278 total, averaging 2.9 blocks per set. The squad ranks fifth in the country in total blocks and ninth in blocks per set, led by Franklin's 145 total net rejections. The veteran ranks third in the NCAA in total blocks and eighth in blocks per set. Sophomore Sabrina Shepherd is second on the squad with 90, and Derochie rounds out the top three with 76 total blocks.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
VCU sits right above the 'Cats in the league standings, but carries a record of 17-11, 7-4 A-10 into the weekend. With just one senior and two juniors on the roster, the Rams rely on a young squad for most of their production. Junior Alicia Kandler tops the squad with 244 kills, but is closely followed by sophomore Julia Adler at 237. The Rams boast a roster of five players with over 100 kills, and are led in their net defense by freshman Jasmin Sneed's 121 blocks.
UP NEXT
Davidson concludes its season next weekend, traveling to Saint Louis and Dayton for key conference matchups. The squad could make a quick return trip to the Gateway City, as the Atlantic 10 Championship is scheduled for Nov. 18-20 in Saint Louis.
