NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the first time in program history, Davidson volleyball will compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships beginning Friday, Nov. 18 in Saint Louis.
One of six teams to earn a postseason berth in the tournament, Davidson will play as the six seed, facing the third seed, host Saint Louis in the first quarterfinal of the tournament, at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Regular-season champions Dayton, who ended with a perfect 14-0 conference record, and second-seeded Rhode Island will receive first-round byes, and Duquesne and VCU round out the championship field.
The first round of the championship will be streamed for free on the A-10 Network, while Saturday's semifinals and Sunday's final of the six-team championship will air on television on the American Sports Network (ASN). The winner of the single-elimination championship will advance to the NCAA Tournament.
The Wildcats and Billikens will play for the third time this season, after SLU downed Davidson in both contests during the regular season. The teams have met five times in series history, with Saint Louis owning a 4-1 advantage.
Davidson's last postseason appearance was in 2012, when the team faced Samford in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament.
Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children and are available through the Saint Louis ticket office and on-site at the championship. An adult all-session pass is $16 and $10 for children under 18 years old. Students with a valid ID from Atlantic 10 member institutions are admitted free.
