CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Davidson sophomore Caroline Yarbrough paced the women's cross country team to a win at the Royal Cross Country Challenge Friday evening at McAlpine Park.
Yarbrough crossed the line in third overall with a time of 17:41.2 to lead all 'Cats. Davidson registered just 50 points to claim the meet, beating out 39 other squads for the victory.
Head coach Jen Straub praised an excellent team effort in the win.
Junior Sarah Sears finished 10th overall with a time of 17:52.9, just ahead of freshman teammate Maddie Hunter who traversed the 5k course in 17:55.8.
Wildcat senior Caroline Turner finished in 15th place, crossing the line in 17:58.8, while freshman Susannah Cate rounded out the team scoring with a 17th place result (18:00.9).
Junior's Laurel Sheffield and Sierra Ponthier each posted personal bests, finishing in 18:03.0 and 18:05.8, respectively.
