DAVIDSON, N.C. — Wrapping up the regular season this week, the Davidson women's soccer team will play host to Atlantic 10 foes Fordham and Rhode Island Thursday and Sunday at Alumni Stadium. The Sunday matchup vs. the Rams will also be Senior Day as the Wildcats will honor their four seniors.
The Matchup
Davidson (5-11-1, 1-6-1 A-10) concludes the regular season with its last two homes. It first will play a 7 p.m. contest against Fordham Thursday night. Then on Sunday as part of Senior Day, the 'Cats will take on Rhode Island in a 1 p.m. game.
Prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. game, seniors Ashley Finke, Maggie Boyd, Kate Joss and co-captain Adelaide Cummings will be honored for their four-year playing careers at Davidson.
The All-Time Series/Last Meetings
The series is just one game old vs. Fordham, with the Rams winning the first meeting last year on their home field by the score of 2-0.
Davidson and Rhode Island have met three times in their series (2-0-1), which dates back to 1994. The Wildcats won their second game in the series with a 1-0 decision on the road a year ago. Cummings recorded her first career game-winning goal, which came seven minutes into the second half when she tapped in a cross from fellow classmate Boyd in the box for the lone goal of the game. Goalkeeper Becca Ravitz and the Wildcat defense earned their fourth team shutout, with Ravitz picking up her second solo shutout of the season.

Seeley Yoo: Yoo Named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week- After registering a career game in the win vs. ETSU, freshman Seeley Yoo earned the women's soccer Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for games played, Aug. 29-Sept. 4. The midfielder earned Davidson's first-ever A-10 player of the week honor since joining the league for the 2014-15 season. It also marks the first time since 2011 that a Wildcat has been honored with a player of the week award when Becca Fisher was named the SoCon Player of the Week, Oct. 18.
Alex Carpenter: Carpenter Gives 'Cats Second A-10 W. Soccer Player of Week- For the second week in a row, the Davidson women's soccer team picked up an Atlantic 10 Player of the Week with sophomore goalkeeper Alex Carpenter earning the defender of the week for games played, Sept. 5-12. A native from Lee's Summit, Mo., the sophomore had a strong week between the pipes in leading Davidson to a 1-1 record. Carpenter finished with 16 saves, a 0.67 goals against average and earned half a shutout in games vs. Marist and Wake Forest last week.
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson returns home for the first time since Oct. 13 after it played at George Mason, St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's the last three games ... the Wildcats dropped a recent 4-0 decision to the red-hot Saint Joseph's Hawks last Sunday ... their lone A-10 win this year came in their last home game, a 1-0 thrilling overtime win against UMass ... senior Maggie Boyd scored the game-winner at the 99:54 mark in the first overtime for her third goal of the season ... she is tied with freshman Seeley Yoo, who paces the 'Cats' offense with seven points on three goals and an assist ... fellow freshman Virginia Jesselson also has seven points on two goals and a team-high three assists ... Kate Joss, Mia Hodges and Lauren Graces Himes are each tied with two goals apiece ... Davidson is looking to snap a three-game scoreless streak ... of the Wildcats' 17 goals this year, freshmen have scored seven of those goals ... the first-years also have eight of the team's 11 assists, led by Jesselson's three and Sabine Chandler's two ... goalkeeper Alex Carpenter has started all 11 of her games and has a team-best 56 saves, while hold a save percentage of .778 (8th in A-10) ... the sophomore registered her first complete shutout after earning a split shutout in a 6-0 win vs. Marist, Sept. 9 ... Yoo (Rookie) and Carpenter (Defender) have both won A-10 players of the week this year ... head coach Greg Ashton is just one win away from becoming the program's all-time winningest coach ... the 'Cats return 21 letterwinners, including eight starters ... they welcome 10 newcomers to this year's team ... Davidson was picked to finish 13th in their third year in the A-10.
Scouting the Rams
Fordham enters Thursday's game with a 9-4-4 overall record and 4-1-3 in league play, good for fifth place ... it is riding a three-game unbeaten streak after last Sunday's 3-1 win at home vs. Richmond ... the Rams have scored 23 games this year ... leading the way is Nicol Natale with four goals, while four others are tied with three goals each ... Brooke Salmon (4) and Natale (3) have seven of the Rams' 17 assists ... Fordham is 4-3-2 on the road this year ... its last road game was a 1-0 setback to Saint Louis, Oct. 13 ... a year ago the Rams finished 13-7-2 overall and reached the A-10 Tournament with a 6-3-1 record ... the Rams return 19 letterwinners and nine starters ... head coach Jessica Clinton is in her third season and has collected 30 wins.
Scouting the Rams of Rhode Island
Rhode Island (5-7-4; 2-4-2 A-10) will wrap up the regular season with a pair of conference games this week against George Washington and Davidson ... the Rams are coming off a 2-0 win against Duquesne last Sunday ... freshman Allyson Reynolds recorded the Rams' two goals in the victory over the Dukes ... she now leads the team with 10 points on five goals this season ... Reynolds was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday, Oct. 24 ... Rhode Island has tallied 20 goals from nine different players in 16 games this season ... Goalkeeper Katie Nickles has allowed just three goals in her last four A-10 matches ... Nickles owns a 1.12 goals allowed average and a career-high five shutouts in 2016 ... the senior co-captain is ranked third in the A-10 with 75 saves ... URI was just 3-15-1 a year ago and finished 0-10 in league games ... head coach Michael Needham is in his sixth season.
Next on the Schedule
The Wildcats will await to see if they will advance to the Atlantic 10 Tournament, which takes place Nov. 3, 4 and 6 in Kingston, R.I.
