PARKING: Fans, we look forward to seeing you at Alumni Stadium. With various construction projects, the path behind Baker Sports Complex is currently closed. The primary parking lot this Fall will be the Greenhouse lot next Alumni Stadium and Ramsey Lot above our intramurals field. Both of these are accessible via Ridge Road, the recommended campus entry point.
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson will wrap up its three-game homestand Monday with a 7 p.m. Labor Day contest against in-state foe NC State at Alumni Stadium.
"NC State is off to a fast start, and that's great for us as we want to play quality, performing teams," said head coach Matt Spear.
Riding a 12-game unbeaten streak on 1992 Team Field dating back to 2013, the Wildcats enter 1-0-1 on the young season following a 2-2 draw with Wofford on Friday.
"It will be a robust crowd and exciting atmosphere especially since it's Carolina Rapids Night."
After falling behind 1-0, Davidson wasted little time erasing the early deficit as Valeriy Sviderskiy found the back of the net less than eight minutes later off a through ball from his fellow forward Maxi Pragnell. In addition to it being Sviderskiy's 17th career strike, the assist was Pragnell's third on the young season.
Shortly after checking into his first game in more than a year, senior Alec Rotunda set up Christian Fechter with a back heel flick to put Davidson in front, 2-1, in the 76th minute.
Pragnell leads the Wildcats offensively with three assists and nine shots.
Coming off a 2-0 win at Liberty on Friday evening, the Wolfpack are 3-0-0 on the season, which also includes victories over Furman (2-1, OT) and College of Charleston (2-0).
"They are a well-organized, motivated and talented group, so it will be important that we are switched on, connected, and sharp," Spear said.
"Our focus remains to be prepared physically and galvanized mentally. That enables you to enter the match with confidence, and to play with belief."
Davidson and NC State have met on the pitch 34 times. The Pack lead the all-time series 27-4-3, including a 2-0 win over the Wildcats in Raleigh on Sept. 24, 2013.
