PARKING: Fans, we look forward to seeing you at Alumni Stadium. With various construction projects, the path behind Baker Sports Complex is currently closed. The primary parking lot this Fall will be the Greenhouse lot next Alumni Stadium and Ramsey Lot above our intramurals field. Both of these are accessible via Ridge Road, the recommended campus entry point.
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Coming off a 2-1 win over Campbell in its season opener, Davidson will continue its three-game homestand Friday evening with a 7 p.m. contest against Wofford at Alumni Stadium.
"We are excited to host Wofford on Friday night. I am familiar with their coach, their style and many of their players," said head coach Matt Spear. "Our focus is always on ourselves – especially early in the season – so our mindset is to prepare for peak performances, to be up for the match, and to put our stamp on the game."
Junior Maxi Pragnell set up both goals, including Shane Macnamara's eventual game-winner in the 75th minute. Jess Smith provided an equalizer 3:13 into the second half for his first career goal.
In addition to remaining unbeaten in their last 17 regular-season openers, the Wildcats extended their home-unbeaten streak to 11 straight dating back to the 2013 season.
Davidson leads the all-time series with its former conference rival 21-2-0. The Terriers, who were picked to finish fifth in the Southern Conference preseason poll, claimed the last meeting, 2-1, in Spartanburg on Sept. 21, 2013.
Wofford enters 2-0 following a pair of 3-0 victories over Gardner-Webb and Winthrop last weekend.
"Wofford is off to a positive start, so we will need to be sharp to break them down and to be hungry to match their intensity."
"We always believe in ourselves," Spear said.
Matthew Aurednik leads the Terriers offensively with two goals and five total points.
Davidson will return to the pitch Monday when it hosts N.C. State Monday at 7 p.m.
