Golf Begins Play at Primland; Darkness Halts Round 2

MEADOWS OF DAN, Va. – Highlighted by an even-par 72 from senior David Sargent, Davidson opened the 2015 Primland Invitational hosted by Wake Forest with a season-low 298 on Monday morning.
The second round was halted due to darkness and will resume at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday morning. Due to conditions, the tournament has been shortened from 54 holes to 45. The 9-hole third and final round will begin immediately following the completion of round two.
The nine-team event is being played on the Par 72, 7,053-yard Primland Resort layout.
In addition to the host Demon Deacons, this year's field includes Auburn, Davidson, Loyola (Md.), North Carolina, Penn State, Pepperdine, Virginia Tech and Yale.
A 2015-16 all-conference selection, Sargent entered round two tied for 16th following his 14th career round of par or better.
Jack Long, one of three freshmen in the Wildcats' starting lineup, was one back of Sargent following 18 holes, while Mike Blasey and Hoke Carlton opened with rounds of 76 and 77, respectively.
Junior Andy Simmons (80) is also competing for Davidson, which entered round two tied for seventh, eight strokes out of the Top-5.
When play was suspended, North Carolina (-16) held the top spot on the team leaderboard by three shots over Wake Forest and Auburn.
