
Davidson Readies for Charlotte Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson men and women's cross country teams will make a short trip to the Queen City Friday for the 2015 Charlotte Invitational. The race will be held at McAlpine Park.
The women's 6,000-meter will take off at 5:30 p.m., while the men's 8,000-meter race with begin at 6:10 p.m.
Last Time Out
Davidson competed at the 2015 Commodore Classic Sept. 19 as both the men and women finished 11th in a competitive field.
Senior Daniel Samet placed 28th in the 8K with a time of 25:34.9, while Will Brewster (25:52.9) and Ian Roberston (26:11.1) placed 42nd and 57th, respectively. On the women's side, Davidson was led by Caroline Yarbrough and Allison Cheeseman for the second consecutive week. Yarbrough placed 40th with a time of 17:52.9, while Cheeseman crossed in 18:16.3 to finish 65th overall.
Honor Roll
Davidson has collected three Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week awards. Ryan Phillips and Daniel Samet have each garnered the award for the men's side, while freshman Caroline Yarbrough was named Rookie of the Week for the women's team.
Phillips earned A-10 Performer of the Week after taking first-place at the Richmond Invitational Sept. 5. Samet paced Davidson to an 11th-place finish against a competitive field at the Commodore Classic Sept. 19.
Yarbrough turned in Davidson's top performance for the second consecutive week. The freshman finished the 5K course in 17:52.9 to place 40th.
Next Up
The men's team will return to action Oct 3 as the Wildcats will compete in the Great Louisville Classic. The women's team will take a week off before returning to Charlotte to compete in the Royals Cross Country Challenge Oct. 9.
