Shepherd Tabbed A-10 Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Sabrina Shepherd of the Davidson volleyball team has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Shepherd helped pace Davidson in the 2015 Panther Invitational, finishing the weekend averaging 2.07 kills, 1.33 blocks per set and 0.73 digs per set, along with a .435 hitting percentage.
A middle hitter, Shepherd also recorded 20 blocks -- two solos and 18 assists. Versus High Point, she hit .429 with seven kills. In a hard-fought 3-2 win over Marshall, she led the offensive charge with a 15-kill, 10-block double-double. The Cave Spring, Ark., native hit at .560 against the Thundering Herd. At the end of the Panther Invitational, Shepherd represented Davidson on the All-Tournament team.
This is the first weekly award Shepherd has picked up this season. Davidson has registered two weekly awards as a team, with Mason Rooney's selection as Rookie of the Week Sept. 8.
Davidson returns to action Sept. 18-19 at the Winthrop Invitational.
