DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson football team achieved its highest team GPA this past spring semester. The Wildcats collectively earned a 3.21 GPA for the third-straight semester with a 3.0 or higher.
Davidson had 44 student-athletes with a 3.0 or higher, while 19 Wildcats achieved a 3.5 or higher.
This past season, Bryant Bednarek, Colin Merrill and Josh Daryoush were named to the Capital One Academic All-District III Division I Football team, while William Morris joined the trio on the Pioneer Football League All-Academic squad.
In addition to holding a 3.254 cumulative GPA as a religion major, senior linebacker Dan Casey was named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, which is one of the most prestigious off-the-field-honors in college football. The award pays tribute to a select group of student-athletes who have worked to positively impact the lives of others.
Most recently, the NCAA honored the Wildcats with the Academic Progress Report (APR) Public Recognition award for earning multiple APR scores in the Top 10 percent for the past four years.
Davidson opens the 2015 season when it travels to The Citadel on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m.
