DAVIDSON, N.C.  — Wrapping up its regular-season home schedule, Davidson fell just short to former Southern Conference opponent Elon, 4-3, Thursday afternoon at the Covington Tennis Courts in men's tennis action.

The Wildcats fell to 12-7 and finished 7-5 at home, while Elon improved to 8-10 on the year.

Earning the doubles point was the Phoenix with wins at No. 1 and 2, taking 8-5 and 8-4 decisions. It proved to be the winning point as both teams split the six singles matches.

The trio of Artem Khrapko, David Hager and Alex Howard each netted wins in singles for Davidson's three team points. Khrapko won his 13th match of the season to tie for the team lead by earning a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3.

Hager, who was named the A-10 Co-Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, nabbed a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 5 to become the fourth Wildcat to reach double digits in wins with his 10th of the year. The victory was also the freshman's fourth in a row.

Winning his second in a row was Howard, earning a two-set 6-2, 7-6 victory at No. 6 to run his record to 3-4.

Davidson closes out the regular season on the road starting with a cross-county rival match vs. Charlotte, April 7.
