
Four Named To Academic All-Southern Conference Team

2014-15 Winter Academic All-Southern Conference
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Anthony Elias, Ian Solcz, Nathaniel Powers and Eddie Isola of the Davidson wrestling team have been named to the 2014-15 Winter Academic All-Southern Conference Team, the league office Tuesday.
To be eligible for the academic all-conference team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the winter season and were required to compete in at least one-half of the teams' competition during the recently concluded campaign.
A senior from Pittsburgh, Pa., Elias battled to a third-place finish at the 2015 SoCon Wrestling Championships at 133 pounds. Elias finished the season with a 13-11 overall record. The senior posted eight decisions, one major decision, a technical fall and a pin. Elias is a Classics major.
Solcz led the team in wins as he posted a 17-15 overall mark at 197 pounds. The senior tallied a team-high 11 decisions, while adding three falls. The Pittsford, N.Y., native earned a fourth-place finish at the SoCon Championships, defeating Gardner-Webb's Boyce Cornwell before falling to Chattanooga's Scottie Boykin. Solcz will graduate in May with a degree in history and philosophy.
Powers registered five decisions and two major decisions en route to a 12-16 overall record at 174 pounds. The junior led the team with five pins; including his fastest win by fall in 1:03 over Campbell's Steven Joyner at the Wolfpack Open. At the SoCon Wrestling Championships, Powers defeated The Citadel's Jack Duane, 7-3. A native of Mill Hill, Pa., Powers is a chemistry major.
A product of Maitland, Fla., Isola finished his senior season at 285 pounds. The senior posted four decisions, including a 7-5 decision over Campbell's Cody Ryba in Davidson's 33-9 win over the Camels. Isola, who earns his third-straight academic honor from the SoCon, is a double major studying political science and mathematics.
