Eckstein Posts Another Top-10 Finish

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Highlighted by three rounds of par or better, Todd Eckstein finished seventh individually and the Davidson golf team carded a final round 291 to come home tied for 10th at the 2015 Furman Intercollegiate Sunday.
The 54-hole/three-day event was played on the Par 72, 6,994-yard Furman University Golf Course layout.
After opening with an even-par 72 on Friday, Eckstein (72-71-71=214/-2) played the weekend in two-under to post his second consecutive Top-10 showing and sixth of his career.
David Sargent (224/T-44) and Andy Simmons (227/T-64) were just as impressive for the Wildcats on the final day firing even-par rounds of 72. The duo combined to make eight birdies to climb the individual leaderboard.
Davidson's starting five was rounded out by Alex Nianouris (228/T-70) and Ralph Blasey (233/T-87), while freshman Spencer Papciak (225/T-54) competed as an individual.
Temple's Brandon Matthews (-10) captured the individual title by three strokes over J.J. Grey (-7) of Georgia State, while the Panthers claimed the team championship at six-under 858 (290-280-288).
Davidson will continue its six-tournament spring slate at the Gary Koch Invitational April 6-7 in Gastonia, N.C.
