MOBILE, Ala. – Junior David Sargent finished tied for 23rd to lead the Davidson golf team at the 2015 Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate hosted by the University of South Alabama.
The 54-hole event was played on the Par-72, 7,160-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings layout.
Highlighted by a career-best four-under 68 in his second round, Sargent posted a two-day total of 223 (79-68-76).
Todd Eckstein, who led the Wildcats on day one with a 36-hole score of two-over 146, carded a 227 (72-74-81) to finish just outside the Top-40.
Andy Simmons (231/54th), Ralph Blasey (242/69th) and Alex Nianouris (245/T-72nd) rounded out Davidson's starting five. Playing as an individual for the 'Cats, Spencer Papciak (243/+30) placed 25th on the individual-only leaderboard.
As a team, the Wildcats posted a 923 (307-298-318) to finish 14th.
Auburn claimed its third straight team title with a final total of 861 (291-292-278), while the Tigers' Matt Gilchrest shared individual medalist with Texas State's Tyler Saunders at five-under.
In addition to Davidson, No. 22 Auburn, Belmont, Illinois State, Kentucky, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Michigan State, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi, Mississippi State, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Texas State and Western Kentucky made up the 15-team field.
The Wildcats will enjoy a week break before hosting the Davidson College Invitational March 2-3 at River Run Country Club.
