Men’s Soccer Announces Spring Slate

DAVIDSON, N.C. – In addition to dates with Charlotte, Clemson and South Carolina, Davidson's 2015 spring slate will feature three straight home matches to begin the season, as announced by head coach Matt Spear Monday afternoon.
"Spring training is very much about developing our underclassmen – both individually and collectively," said Spear. "The guys have been on the field since January 12th, the first day of second semester. They go to the strength and conditioning center three days per week before classes; they wrap up the week with yoga, and much more to ignite progress. They are pushing and growing and having serious fun."
The Wildcats kick-off the 7-game slate on March 15 on 1992 Team Field with their annual Alumni Game at 4:00 p.m. Davidson will also have home contests against Queens University (March 22) and Charlotte Independence (April 14), a member of the USL Pro and affiliate of the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer.
On March 28, the Wildcats will travel to Rock Hill to square off with Winthrop and South Carolina with a pair of 70 minute contests before concluding the spring at Clemson (April 11) and Charlotte (April 17).
Both the Tigers and 49ers advanced to the NCAA Tournament in the fall.
"The matches this spring will measure and test their development, while chiseling our identity and channeling our promise for next fall," Spear commented.
Davidson, which finished 10-2-6 in the fall and tied for fourth in the Atlantic 10, was the nation's only team to conclude the campaign with just two setbacks. In addition, the Wildcats recorded wins over eventual National Champion Virginia and Duke, while climbing to as high as No. 3 in the RPI.
