Records Fall on Day 2 of Total Performance Invite

GAMBIER, Ohio – Two Davidson records, one pool record and one Atlantic 10 record was set by the Davidson swimming and diving program on day two of the Total Performance Invitational Friday at Kenyon College.
The second day of competition began early with Davidson making a splash in the preliminary round.
Junior Elise Lankiewicz continued to impress as she finished first in the 200 freestyle, setting another Davidson record and beating her previous conference record with a NCAA B standard time of 1:47.46. Lankiewicz later finished second in the finals with a time of 1:47.91.
Sophomore Katy Williams also rewrote the record books in the 100 breaststroke for the 'Cats, setting a school record and a Steen Aquatic Center record with a NCAA B standard time of 1:02.08 in the preliminaries. Williams finished the day with an impressive 1:01.90 time in the finals, placing second overall.
The Davidson women finished the day with two third-place finishes in both relay events. The quartet of Lankiewicz, Angie Healy, Maggie Farrell and Lauren Malachowski put together a time of 1:35.20 in the 200 freestyle, while Healy, Williams, Farrell and Lankiewicz swam a 3:47.04 in the 400 medley relay that capped off the night for the women.
Senior Luke Burton took the top time for the men, finishing fourth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.69.
The Davidson men took top-10 finishes in the relay events, including a seven-place showing in the 200 freestyle relay. Burton, Colin MacKay, Clay Resweber and Ari Snyder put together a time of 1:24.30 for the 'Cats.
After event 40, the Davidson women sit third with 706 points, while the men rank fifth with 435 points heading into the final day.
Competition concludes tomorrow at 9:30 a.m., before a 5:30 p.m. evening swim.
