Lankiewicz Sets Record on Day 1 of Total Performance Invite

GAMBIER, Ohio – Junior Elise Lankiewicz crushed her own school record in the 1650 freestyle to lead the Davidson swimming and diving program on the first day of the Total Performance Invitational Thursday night at Kenyon College.
Lankiewicz swam a time of 16:34.99, which was almost 20 seconds faster than her previous school record (16:53.77) that was set on Dec. 5, 2013, to finish first in the 1650 freestyle, the second event of the night.
In addition to her gold, Lankiewicz capped off the evening for the 'Cats with a commanding lead-off leg in the 800 freestyle that helped the quartet of Lauren Malachowski, Maggie Farrell and Angie Healy to a second-place showing with a time of 7:25.12.
After six events, the Davidson women sit third with 174 points, while the men rank fifth with 121 points heading into day two.
Competition begins tomorrow at 9:30 a.m., before a 5:30 p.m. evening swim.
