OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – In addition to being a Senior Class Award® finalist for men's soccer, Davidson's Matt Pacifici has been selected to the 2015 first team, as announced Thursday.
"Another great honor for Matt, and one that is especially noble because it celebrates impact and excellence, both on and off the field," said Davidson head coach Matt Spear. "Matt has exemplified what Davidson attracts and ignites in terms of conviction and ambition."
Ohio State's Zach Mason has been selected through nationwide balloting as the 2015 Senior CLASS Award® winner in NCAA® Division I men's soccer becoming the second Buckeye in as many years to receive the award.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete in 10 NCAA sports and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: classroom, community, character and competition. The award for men's soccer is chosen by a vote of Division I men's soccer coaches, national soccer media and fans and is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I men's soccer.
Joining Mason on the 2015 first team were Amass Amankona, University of Dayton; Jack Gorab, Brown University; Jesse Klug, Bucknell University and Matt Pacifici, Davidson College.
The second team included Jonathan Campbell, University of North Carolina; Mike Casey, University of Rhode Island; Jamie Merriam, West Virginia University; Chase Minter, Cal Poly and Brandon Vincent, University of Stanford.
