2016 Baseball Schedule
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Head coach Dick Cooke announced the 2016 Davidson baseball schedule Thursday, which includes 34 home contests at Wilson Field.
All dates and times are subject to change.
The 2016 season will be Cooke's 26th at the helm and is slated to include 52 regular season games. Of those, 34 will be at Wilson Field, including 18 of the first 25.
The Wildcats will play eight three-game series against A-10 foes (24 games), while the non-conference schedule renews series against familiar ACC foes Wake Forest, Duke and North Carolina, as well as SEC foe South Carolina.
For its second A-10 season, Davidson will host Massachusetts (Mar. 25-26), George Washington (Apr. 8-10), Fordham (Apr. 22-24), and 2015 A-10 Champion VCU (May 19-21), while visiting Saint Joseph's (Apr. 1-3), Richmond (Apr. 15-17), Saint Louis (Apr. 29-May 1) and Dayton (May 12-13).
The season will open at home on Friday, Feb. 19 with a four-team tournament, featuring the Air Force Academy, Marist and Buffalo.
Following a mid-week matchup at Wake Forest (Feb. 23), Davidson will return to Wilson Field the following weekend to host Georgetown (Feb. 26-28). The Wildcats have another mid-week ACC road game at Duke to open March, before hosting Lafayette College March 4-6.
The Campbell Invitational on March 11-13 will be the 'Cats' first weekend series on the road where Davidson will face the Fighting Camels, Indiana State and a non-conference matchup against Rhode Island.
Before entering conference play, Davidson will travel to South Carolina (Mar. 16) prior to hosting Furman (Mar. 18-20) and Iona (Mar. 22-23).
Midweek contests against North Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke, Winthrop and High Point break-up conference play throughout April and May.
The Atlantic 10 Baseball Tournament will be at Fordham's Houlihan Park in Bronx, N.Y., May 25-28.
