Shepherd Picks Up Third A-10 Rookie of the Week Award

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Davidson volleyball's Sabrina Shepherd has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, marking the third time this season she has earned the award, the conference announced Tuesday.
In the final weekend of the regular season, Shepherd averaged 2.00 kills per set, a .438 hitting percentage and 1.38 blocks per set as the Wildcats posted its first-ever weekend sweep against league competition.
The Cave Spring, Ark., native first took to the court on Friday against Rhode Island, and helped guide Davidson to a, 3-2, win over the Rams. The middle hitter registered nine kills and a .318 hitting percentage, while leading the defensive effort at the net with six total blocks. Shepherd followed it up with seven kills, a .700 hitting percentage and five blocks in a straight set victory over Fordham.
Davidson concluded its second season in the Atlantic 10 with a 12-16 overall mark and a 6-8 record in conference play.
