
Wildcats Place 20th at NCAA Southeast Regional Meet

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Caroline Yarbrough concluded her stellar freshman campaign with a 37th place finish at the 2015 NCAA Southeast Regional Meet as the Wildcats took 20th overall.
"Our goal was to be in the top-20, so we were pleased with the results," said Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Jen Straub. "We wanted to be competitive, so that we met the challenges of this difficult course. This was a great day for Davidson cross country!"
Yarbrough, the 2015 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, covered the 6K course in 21:56.1 to turn in the best performance by a freshman at this event in program history.
"Caroline ran an absolute stellar race," said Straub. "She capped off a phenomenal freshman season. I couldn't be more proud of her today."
Hayden Bates and Allison Cheeseman were the next Wildcats to finish. Bates crossed the line in 23:01.7, while Cheeseman wasn't far behind with a time of 23:03.6. The pair finished 102nd and 107th, respectively.
Sophomore Sarah Sears registered a time of 23:34.7 to place 140th with Caroline Turner crossing next in 23:38.7 to earn 147th place.
Senior captains Olivia Menden and Ashlyn Gruber concluded their collegiate cross country careers. Menden posted a time of 23:52.2 and Gruber finished in 24:30.9.
Davidson placed 20th out of 33 teams with an average time of 23:02.96 for 518 total points. Virginia won the race, placing five runners in the top-15, while NC State took second thanks to two top-10 finishes.
