Davidson Competes at Terrapin Duals

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Davidson wrestling team posted a 1-2 record at the Terrapins Dual to open the 2015-16 season Sunday afternoon.
After falling to Maryland and Buffalo, Davidson posted a 25-9 win over West Liberty to end the day on a high note.
Freshman Tony Palumbo earned the lone victory against Maryland. The rookie posted an 8-4 decision over Maryland's Patrick Gerish at 157 pounds. He went on to earn a hard fought 3-2 win against West Liberty's David Schlieper.
In the final match of the day, Davidson won seven of the 10 bouts, including the final four weights to post a 25-9 win over West Liberty.
Sophomore Dustin Runzo got things rolling for Davidson at 133 pounds with an 8-4 decision over Johnathan Bodkin, before the Wildcats had back to back victories at 149 and 157. Aidan Conroy first posted an 8-6 decision over Anthony Craig, before Palumbo earned his second victory of the day.
West Liberty evened the score at nine thanks to a win at 165, but Davidson rattled off four consecutive wins to secure the match.
At 174, Nathaniel Powers earned a 5-4 decision thanks to the riding time point before Konner Pritchard claimed a 4-1 victory at 184 to put the Wildcats in front, 15-9. Sophomore Ryan Devlin posted a major decision at 197 and Will Cooley ended the match with a pin.
Davidson returns to action Nov. 7 with a dual at Appalachian State.
