Pidcock Vaults 'Cats to 1-0 Overtime Win at Saint Francis

LORETTA, Pa. - Senior Lucy Pidcock notched the game-winning goal in overtime to give Davidson a thrilling 1-0 win over Saint Francis and remain unbeaten in Atlantic 10 play.
Davidson improves to 6-4 overall and a 3-0 in conference contests. The Wildcats have now won three consecutive games, matching its longest win streak since 2013. Emily Leytham finished the game with a career-high 14 saves in the net.
Saint Francis (4-5, 0-2 A-10) started things off on a torrid pace, collecting nine penalty corners and taking aim nine times in Leytham's direction, but the Davidson defense and Leytham, kept things quiet.
The Wildcats looked like it had potential to take the lead midway through the opening frame off two consecutive penalty corners that resulted in two shots from Melissa Funsten and an attempt from Pidcock, but Saint Francis' Samantha Zeider turned away the three shots to keep the Wildcats off the scoreboard.
The Wildcats delivered constant pressure in the second half, gaining momentum and chances throughout, but could not capitalize. Davidson held a narrow advantage in shot, 5-4, while the Red Flash took penalty corners, 6-4.
Saint Francis had the last scoring opportunity of regulation off a penalty corner, but sophomore Morgan French blocked Michelle Lipski's shot attempt in the final seconds to send the game into overtime.
The Red Flash continued to pressure the Wildcats' defense in the first overtime period, earning a series of chances, including four by way of penalty corners, but Davidson stood firm on defense before Pidcock registered her second goal of the season.
Davidson returns to action Sunday at Lock Haven. The game is set for noon.
