
Feaster, Wildcats Compete at Charlotte Invite

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Led by sophomore Anna Catharine Feaster, the Davidson women's tennis team competed at their cross-county rival's invitational this weekend held on the campus of Charlotte.
Joining Davidson was the host 49ers along with Coastal Carolina and Wofford. Nine Wildcats competed Friday and Saturday at the invite.
Leading the way was Feaster, who went a perfect 3-0 in singles at the No. 1 position. The sophomore opened with a strong win over Charlotte by scoring a 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 decision. She then followed with an impressive straight-set victory against Wofford, 6-0, 6-3. Feaster capped the two-day invite off with another comeback super tie-breaker win to decide her match, netting a 4-6, 7-6(4), 10-4 victory over her Coastal Carolina opponent.
Freshman Gabrielle Centenari and sophomore Ava Todd each won a pair of singles matches. Playing at No. 3, Centenari won a 6-4, 1-6, 10-8 battle vs. Charlotte and moving down one singles slot vs. Wofford, she came back for a 1-6, 6-3, 11-9 victory. Her Saturday ended though with a tough 6-3, 7-5 setback to her Coastal opponent.
Todd played on Saturday, scoring wins against her Wofford (6-3, 7-6(9)) and Coastal Carolina (7-5, 6-1) opponents.
Also claiming a pair of singles wins was Ally Sexton. She opened vs. Charlotte and won as her 49er opponent was forced to retire with the match being at 3-6, 4-1. The sophomore then picked up a 2-6, 6-0, 10-6 win on Saturday vs. Wofford.
First-year player Megan Scholvinck earned a nice 6-3, 7-5 win over Coastal, while senior Courtney McCray picked up an 8-7 victory again her Wofford opponent on Saturday.
In doubles action, the two freshmen, Centenari and Scholvinck, each picked up a pair of doubles victories. They teamed together to face Wofford's No. 3 team and picked up a 6-1 triumph, before falling to Coastal Carolina 6-2.
Centenari also teamed with Elaina Cummer to net a 6-3 doubles win vs. Charlotte. Scholvinck and Todd were a team vs. Charlotte, picking up an easy 6-1 decision.
Sarah Stein and Cassidy Shell earned a 7-5 victory against Charlotte's team at No. 4.
Next up for Davidson is the Carolina Regionals held in Chapel Hill on the campus of North Carolina, Oct. 22-25.
