DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Wildcats will jump back into conference play when they travel to Butler Saturday at 1 p.m.
THE GAME
• The Wildcats jump back into conference play as they travel to Indianapolis to take on Butler at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
• Butler will be producing an HD multi-camera production on Saturday for free with Mark Minner and Max Gabovitch calling the action. Click here to watch.
• Saturday's game will mark the 10th meeting between the two teams and Davidson leads the all-time series that dates back to 2003, 5-4. However, the Bulldogs have won the last four games against Davidson, including the most recent outing, 31-20, on Nov. 27, 2012 at Richardson Stadium.
• The last Pioneer Football League win for the Wildcats came at Valparaiso on Nov. 10, 2012 where Davidson took a 28-27 overtime victory.
• Davidson is 28-59 (.322) all-time in the Pioneer Football League.
• This week's honorary captain is Richard Howell, Class of 1993. Howell was a standout quarterback for Davidson from 1990-93 and held five school records upon graduation. Howell is currently in his 16th season as assistant strength and conditioning coach of the Indianapolis Colts.

The Bladenboro, N.C., native finished his senior season ranked fourth nationally in scoring. Howell is now in his 16th season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach of the Indianapolis Colts.
LAST TIME OUT
A William Morris nine-yard touchdown reception and Thomas Sykes' interception in the first overtime lifted Davidson to a 14-7 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan last Saturday. The win snapped a 15-game drought for the Wildcats. Morris' 16th-career touchdown came on a 3rd-and-8 pass from Taylor Mitchell, who finished the rainy day 18-of-37 for 118 yards. The Davidson defense held the Panthers to just seven points as it forced three turnovers, including a blocked field goal in the third quarter.
SYKES NAMED PFL CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DL Thomas Sykes' overtime interception helped the Wildcats end a 15-game drought with a 14-7 victory against Kentucky Wesleyan on Oct. 10. He also recovered a fumble and was part of a QB sack in a five-tackle outing. Sykes is the first Davidson player to be named a PFL Defensive Player of the Week since Sept. 22, 2012 when Patrick Moynahan won the award.
DEFENSE LEADS 'CATS OVER KWC
The Davidson defense was a huge part in the overtime win against Kentucky Wesleyan as the 'Cats forced two crucial turnovers, including a blocked field goal in the third quarter and the game-winning interception that ended the extra period. Nick Ragsdale was the first Wildcat to block a FG since Andrew Hart blocked one against San Diego on Nov. 17, 2012. The last time the Wildcats held an opponent to seven points or less was against Johnson C. Smith (35-7 W) on Sept. 24, 2011. Davidson has only held its opponents to seven points or less nine times in the past 10 years.
