Burton Named A-10 Men's Swimmer of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Davidson junior Luke Burton was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Swimming Performer of the Week for the first time this season, announced by the league Tuesday.
Burton had a record-breaking performance against Georgetown and George Washington this past weekend. The junior set three new pools victories en route to four first-place finishes.
The Kennesaw, Ga., native swam lead off for two relay teams that set pool records. First, he was part of the 200-yard medley relay, which touched the wall in 1:34.15 to take first, before helping to win the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:08.98.
Individually, Burton was just as impressive. The junior posted a time of 50.66 to claim victory in the 100 backstroke before setting a third pool-record in the 200 backstroke event touching the wall in 1:51.32.
Davidson returns to the pool, Jan. 31, with a trip to Boiling Springs, N.C., to take on Gardner Webb.
