Wildcats Fall to William & Mary, 171-104

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson men's swimming and diving team put forth a strong showing against William & Mary, but came up short as the Wildcats fell to the Tribe, 171-104. Prior to the start of the meet, Davidson honored its six graduating seniors for their hard work and dedication over the last four years.
The team of Luke Burton, Spencer Gill, Cameron Bard and Brandon Kegley opened the meet with a second place finish in the 200 medley relay. The team finished in a time of 1:32.69, less than one second behind the first-place William & Mary squad.
Clay Resweber took second in the 1,000 and 500 freestyle race, posting a time of 9:43.23 and 4:41.64 respectively.
Luke Burton came in second in the 100 and 200 backstroke event. In the 100, he swam 50.65 and in the 200 he finished with a time of 1:52.40
In the 100 breaststroke, Spencer Gill and Drew Gill took fourth and sixth respectively. S. Gill swam 58.53, while D. Gill posted a time of 1:00.15.
Cameron Bard took second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.24, and fourth in the 100 butterfly (53.28).
Brandon Kegley swam 48.14 to rank second in the 100 freestyle. The senior also collected a win in the 200 yard IM with a time of 1:56.90. His teammate Smith (2:00.31), Spencer Davies (2:00.57) and Riley League (2:01.28) weren't far behind as the Wildcats swept the event.
S. Gill, Grant Smith and Reily League went 3-4-5 in the 200 breaststroke. Gill swam 2:10.64 followed by Smith who posted 2:12.13 and then League who earned a 2:15.37 finish.
In the 400 freestyle relay, the Davidson squad of Burton, Resweber, Ben Stewart-Bates and Cole Riggan came in first with a time of 3:11.91.
Junior Max Feinstein came in first in the 3-meter and 1-meter diving events.
Davidson will travel to the nation's capital to face both George Washington and Georgetown next Saturday.
