Sears Tabbed A-10 Rookie of the Week

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Freshman Sarah Sears of the Davidson women's cross country team earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
The Arlington, Va., native had a strong showing at the Charlotte Invitational at McAlpine Park. Sears was the first Wildcat to finish the 6K course, crossing the line in 22:49.8 to take 11th place out of 78 runners.
"We are very proud of Sarah," said director of cross country and track and field Jen Straub. "She has been running very strong this fall, and we are excited to see her continue her season in this fashion."
The Wildcats placed third as a team, finishing with 74 points, trailing second-place Samford, which scored 62 points. South Carolina won the meet with a low 37 points.
Davidson returns to the trail Oct. 11, for the Royals Cross Country Championship in Charlotte, N.C.
