'Cats Set to Entertain Saint Joseph's and William & Mary

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson field hockey will look to snap a four-game losing skid when the Wildcats welcome Saint Joseph's and William & Mary to Belk Turf Field this weekend. The Wildcats and the Hawks faceoff Saturday, Sept. 27 at noon, while Davidson and William & Mary meet at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

About Davidson
The Wildcats have dropped their last four games after topping Rider, 2-1, Sept. 6, at Belk Turf Field. Davidson is led by the sophomore tandem of Becca Jones and Katherine English. Jones has three goals and an assist to lead the team, while English has found the back of the cage twice. English has also contributed two helpers.

Last Time Out
Davidson dropped a 2-1 decision to Atlantic 10-foe La Salle, but saw significant improvement during the second half. After falling behind 2-0 at halftime, the Wildcats rebounded to outshoot La Salle 9-6 and gain more penalty corners, 7-5, during the second frame. Katherine English put Davidson on the board with just 1:32 remaining in the game off a penalty corner.

The Wildcats fell into a 3-0 hole in the first half against Monmouth, Sept. 21, and came up short despite earning four penalty corners in the second stanza. Davidson tallied four shots after the break, including three on goal, but could not find the back of the cage until Katherine English broke the shutout on a penalty corner in the 60th minute of play. English's second goal of the year was Davidson's only goal of the day, as the Wildcats eventually fell, 3-1.

Emily Leytham has started each of the seven games in goal and enters the weekend with a 3.27 goals against average and a .764 save percentage. Davidson's goalkeeper is first in save percentage (.756) and second in saves per game (8.43) in the conference.

Seven Wildcats have contributed a point this season as Becca Jones continues to lead the pack with seven points (three goals, one assists) followed by Katherine English who has found the back of the net twice while tallying an assist.Â

Kristen Moisey has a team-high three helpers.
