Strong Showing at Commodore Classic for Wildcats

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Paced by freshmen Allison Cheeseman and Sarah Sears, who finished the 5K in 18:23.09 and 18:26.19 respectively, the Davidson women's cross country team finished 12th of 17 teams at the Commodor Classic at Vanderbilt.
Cheeseman placed 51st out of 260 runners in an extremely competitive field, while Sears earned a 54th place finish.
"I'm proud of the effort today," said Jen Straub, Director of track and field and cross country. "Our women are improving every day and we are looking forward to championship season."
Olivia Menden ranked 71st with a time of 18:39.30. Helen Webster posted a time of 18:40.40, good for 73rd place, and Brigid Behrens rounded out the top-five for Davidson, crossing the line in 18:46.45.
Davidson had seven runners finish the 3.1 miles under 19 minutes.
The Wildcats return to action, Sept. 26, as the team heads to McAlpine Park for the Charlotte Invitational.
