Golf Wraps Up Day Two of UNC Intercollegiate

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – David Sargent bounced back with a two-over 74 Saturday to lead Davidson in the second round of the 2014 Tar Heel Intercollegiate on the Par 72, 7,242-yard UNC Finley Golf Course.
Sunday's third and final round will begin at 8 a.m. off holes No. 1 and No. 10.
For the second straight day, the Wildcats (304-304 = 608) posted a team total of 304 and will enter the final round five back of Coastal Carolina and UNC Wilmington.
Sargent, who opened with a disappointing round of 80 on Friday, got off to another sluggish start before playing his final 15 holes in one-under par.
Senior Todd Eckstein shot a three-over 75 and leads Davidson through two days with a 36-hole total of 149 (+5).
Andy Simmons (73-79 = 152), Spencer Papciak (78-76 = 154) and Ralph Blasey (79-80 = 159) are also competing for the Wildcats this weekend.
On the heels of an opening round 273 (-15), North Carolina (-26) fired an 11-under 277 in the second round to lead East Carolina by a commanding 19 strokes.
The Tar Heels' Ben Griffin (-8) took over the top spot on the individual leaderboard and leads teammate William Register (-7) by a shot.
In addition to Davidson and the host Tar Heels, the 18-team field will feature Boston College, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, Elon, Furman, Gardner Webb, George Mason, GRU-Augusta, Kennesaw State, Maryland, Mercer, North Carolina, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, UT-Chattanooga and Virginia Commonwealth.
