DAVIDSON, N.C. – Jason Strange has been named assistant / goalkeeper coach for the Davidson men's soccer team, as announced by Wildcat head coach Matt Spear Monday.
"We are very excited to add Jason to our program," commented Spear, who is entering his 14th season at the helm of his alma mater. "As a National Champion, he has lived and breathed NCAA Soccer from the very top of the mountain. Jason was one of our camp staff coaches this summer, and it was very easy to gauge the high quality of his soccer knowledge, his excellent ability to communicate, and his desire to motivate and teach. It's this teaching capacity that really matters the most – in fact, Jason has worked in a special education classroom setting away from soccer."
A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science, Strange was a goalkeeper on the Tar Heels' 2001 national championship team.
"I would like to thank Matt for the opportunity to join the Davidson men's soccer staff," said Strange. "I am excited to be part of a collegiate program like Davidson that strives to be the best both academically and athletically. I look forward to working with the goalkeepers and helping them to prepare for a great season as Davidson transitions into the Atlantic 10 Conference."
In addition to previously serving as an assistant coach at both Greensboro and Catawba College, Strange has extensive club soccer experience, including with the Lake Norman Soccer Club, where he serves as the Director of Coaching.
