HIGH POINT, N.C. – Another meet, another record for the Davidson women's track & field team as both Sarah Paddon and Hannah Rieden broke the program mark in the 800-meter run on the final day of the Vertklasse Meeting at High Point University Saturday afternoon.
Paddon will hold the new record of 2:11.92 and took first overall in the event. Her new mark comes as no surprise as her 800m split of the distance medley relay at last week's Raleigh Relays was faster than the previous 15-year old record of 2:13.17. Her freshman teammate Rieden also ran the event faster than the previous mark, taking the runner-up spot in a time of 2:12.92. Ashlyn Gruber joined them in the event, taking 12th in 2:18.54.
In a separate section of the 800m, Olivia Menden claimed fourth in a season-best time of 2:18.81. Grace Watt was 10th, clocking in at 2:20.35.
Morgan McGrath had a solid outing in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line in an outdoor-best time of 1:04.15. Kate Kostecky finished 17th in the 400-meter hurdles, running a time of 1:07.69.
The Wildcats travel to Rock Hill, S.C., on Friday for the Carolina's Cup. The event will be hosted by the Winthrop Eagles.
