Wildcats To Compete in SoCon Championship Meet

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The next step in their quest for a record-breaking season, the Davidson women's track & field team will compete in the 2014 Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend. The meet will be hosted by the Wofford Terriers at Spartanburg High School.
The event starts at 8 a.m. Saturday morning and will conclude with an awards ceremony schedule for 5 p.m. Sunday evening. Live results, as well as additional information, can be found on the SoCon Championships page.
The 28th annual SoCon women's meet will also mark the final SoCon competition for the 'Cats, who move to the Atlantic 10 this summer. Davidson took 12th place at last year's meet with Olivia Menden earning all-freshman team honors. The 4x400-meter relay of Ashlyn Gruber, Brigid Behrens, Olivia Menden and Grace Watt teamed for a ninth-place finish, while Erin Osment took eighth in the 10,000-meter run.
Davidson has been on quite the record-breaking streak as of late, setting a new mark in every meet in which they have competed – both indoor and outdoor. Entering the meet, the tally stands at 11 records.
SoCon Power rankings entering the meet are as follows:
Western Carolina enters the competiton as the defending champion, winning last season's meet with 197.5 points. Appalachian State was the runner-up with 159.5 points, while Georgia Southern took third with 112.5 points.
