LEADING OFF
Davidson (11-6, 3-0 SoCon)
Wofford (14-7, 0-0 SoCon)
Friday (6 p.m.) LHP Rob Bain (4.91, 1-1) RHP Matthew Millburn (4.31, 2-2)
Saturday (2 p.m.) RHP Danny Mooney (0.96, 3-1) RHP Luke Leftwich (3.07, 2-1)
Sunday (1 p.m.) RHP Nick Neitzel (2.05, 2-0) RHP Connell Anderson (3.18, 1-1)

- The Wofford and Davidson series has been extremely tight in recent years, as nine of the last 10 games have been decided by one run. The one game that was decided by more than a run was a two-run win for Wofford last season. The teams are an even 6-6 against each other the past four years.

- Davidson enters the weekend on an eight-game winning streak - its longest since winning nine in 1964. At 11-6, the Wildcats are off to their best start since 1992 when they opened the season with a 15-6 record.

- A Davidson win would improve its winning streak to nine games, matching the single-season record for consecutive wins first set in 1904, and later matched in 1964. The longest winning streak in program history is 10 games, set across the 1906 and 1907 seasons.

- At 3-0 in conference play, a win Friday would also match Davidson's best start in Southern Conference action, last accomplished in 2000 when the 'Cats swept VMI in the first league series of the year, and then won the first game in the following series against Wofford. Ensuing wins would result in the 'Cats best start in its 64-season baseball history in the SoCon.

- The Wildcats are 11-3 at Wilson Field so far this year, winning their last nine home games, and they swept Wofford with three one-run wins the last time the Terriers visited Wilson Field in 2012. However, Wofford is undefeated in three contests away from its home field this season, and took two out of three games last season.

- Davidson batters boast four of the Top-10 batting averages in the Southern Conference: 2. OF Forrest Brandt, .397; 6. 1B Ben Arkin, .409; 8. SS Sam Foy, .370; and 9. OF Lee Miller, .367. They also hold three of the top six on-base percentages: 2. Brandt, .474; 3. Arkin, .491; and 6. DH Ryan Lowe, .447.

- OF Nathan Becker is among the conference leaders in home runs and RBIs, ranking second with seven home runs and ranking sixth with 20 RBIs. He entered the week ranking sixth in the nation in home runs.

- RHP Danny Mooney is second in the league with a 0.96 ERA, and tops with a .131 opposing batting average.

- As a team, Davidson entered the week ranking sixth in the nation with 19 home runs, and third in the nation with 1.19 home runs per game.

- Since being held to one hit against Miami (Ohio), the Wildcats are batting .352 as a team with 12.7 hits per game in their 11 games since, led by Foy (.479) and Brandt (.476).

THE SERIES
VS. WOFFORD: Davidson leads the all-time series, 52-39, and swept the Terriers at home with three one-run wins during their last visit in 2012. The final game of the 2010 series in Davidson was won by Davidson, 5-4, to start a streak of eight consecutive one-run games. Last season, Davidson won the first game at Wofford, 3-2, but lost an early lead in the second game to fall, 8-10, and then lost in the bottom of the ninth, 3-2 in the series finale.

SCOUTING WOFFORD
Wofford is on a five-game winning streak and playing its first Southern Conference series. Demetrius Jennings leads the team with a .319 batting average, while Josh Hyman has provided the power with a team-best three home runs and 15 RBIs.

NOTES
'CATS VS. 'DOGS: Against The Citadel, which was voted to finish second in the SoCon this season by both the league's coaches and media, Davidson (10-6, 3-0 SoCon) has now won five straight, dating back to last season, and three of the last four series. The sweep of the Bulldogs was the Wildcats' first since 2003.

BECKER BREAKS OUT: Nathan Becker started all 49 games last season for Davidson and totaled one home run and 14 RBIs. He has seven home runs and 20 RBIs through 17 games this season.

SENIOR WINS: Senior relievers Justin Charles and Michael Goldberg have both earned their first career wins this season. Charles did it by pitching 0.2 innings against North Carolina A&T (3/9). Goldberg earned his with a perfect inning against Miami (Ohio) (3/2), and he also earned his first career save against Wake Forest (3/19). Goldberg began his career in 2010 as an infielder, but primarily became a pitcher as a sophomore in 2011, seeing limited action. Injury cost him all of 2012, but he was able to redshirt. Goldberg made a career-high 13 appearances last season, including two starts, totaling 18.1 innings.

ACC SCHEDULE: Davidson has played four of five consecutive mid-week games against ACC opponents. The Wildcats opened their season at Wake Forest and allowed an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth inning before ultimately losing, 4-3, in the 12th inning. Davidson was also competitive against No. 6 NC State, losing 7-5, and also faced No. 15 North Carolina. The 'Cats earned their first ACC win since sweeping Duke in 2012 against Wake Forest (3/19), 7-6. Davidson will begin a home-and-home series against Duke Tuesday at Wilson Field.
