Davidson Strong at UCS Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Michael Lorentsen, Xzavier Killings, Patrick Rollo, Grayam Sailor-Tynes, Stewart Dalton and the 4x400-meter relay team all turned in Davidson all-time top-10 performances in their respective events to lead Davidson men's track and field at the UCS Invitational Saturday on the JDL Fast Track.
Lorentsen matched his record in the pole vault with a top mark of 14 feet, 11 inches (4.55m) to place second in the unseeded section of the event. Fellow field competitor Xzavier Killings had a personal-best day in the triple jump, leaping 42-2 ¼ (12.91m) to place ninth. He also cleared 5-11 ¼ (1.81m) in the high jump.
Rollo and Sailor-Tynes led a strong middle distance performance. Rollo finished 11th in the 800-meter run in 1 minute, 54.71 seconds, while Sailor-Tynes earned the same placing in the mile in 4:17.35. Sailor-Tynes led three top-20 finishers for the Wildcats, as Whitner Chase earned a place on the school top-10 performers list in 4:19.17 to place 14th, and freshman Walker Mogen placed 19th in 4:21.68.
Dalton leapt 21-0 ½ (6.41m) in the long jump for his fourth top-10 performance. He also ran in the 60-meter dash, finishing in 7.22 seconds.
Rounding out the six top performances was the 4x400m team of Charles Rappe, Rollo, Wesley Laytham and Nate Faubion, which placed 10th in 3:27.28.
Rappe had a busy day, also competing in the 60-meter hurdles, placing 16th in 8.80 seconds, and the 200-meter dash, finishing in 23.69 seconds. Faubion joined Rappe in the 200m, finishing in 24.32 seconds, and he also ran the 400m, crossing the line in 52.21.
In the distance events, Will McDuffie competed in the 3000-meter run, finishing in 9:17.14, while Aaron Forburger paced the 'Cats in the 5000 in 15:39.15.
The meet was the final tune-up before the SoCon Indoor Championships Mar. 1-2 in the same facility.
