Wildcats Place 15th at NCAA Southeast Regional Meet

LOUISVILLE, KY. – Behind the duo of Erin Osment and Sarah Paddon, the Davidson women's cross country team ran to a 15th-place finish at the NCAA Southeast Region Championship at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park Friday afternoon.
"This was a great day for Davidson cross country," said Jen Straub, director of cross country and track and field. "I'm really proud of how both our men and women competed."
The Wildcats came home 15th out of 38 teams with an average time of 22:06.7 for 465 total points. It marks the best finish at this event in recent seasons as Davidson will finish out the 2014 campaign with a Top-15 regional ranking. William & Mary won the meet, placing four runners in the top-20, while Virginia claimed second behind two top-five finishers.
Continuing their successful senior seasons, Osment and Paddon each turned in record performances. Osment led the way for the Wildcats covering the 6K course in 21:10.4, a new personal best, to finish in 37th out of 257 runners. Paddon wasn't far behind, crossing the line just 30 seconds later to finish the race in 21:40.4 for 66th-place overall.
Junior Olivia Menden was the Wildcats' third scorer, crossing the line in 22:13.6 to take 96th-place overall. Hayden Bates ran to 136th-place with a time of 22:42.4, while freshman Sarah Sears had a strong run, riding the heels of Bates to a 139th-place finish and a 22:46.7 time.
