DAVIDSON, N.C. – Matt Pacifici of the Davidson men's soccer team has been named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District Team, as announced Thursday. With this recognition, Pacifici advances to the national ballot for Capital One Academic All-America® honors.
A junior from Charlotte, Pacifici carries a 3.469 grade-point-average while double majoring in Economics and Spanish.
In addition to five shutouts and a 7-2-3 record in goal this season, Pacifici has allowed just 11 goals in 13 contests, while recording 49 saves. He currently ranks among the league's best in goals-against-average (0.83/4th) and save percentage (.817/2nd).
"Matt earned the starting spot day one as a freshman," said Davidson head coach Matt Spear. "He's extremely well respected by his teammates as a captain, and his game has elevated even more this season. He's very ambitious in terms of this program's day-to-day mindset and capacity to beat any opponent, including Duke and Virginia this fall."
"Off the field, he is equally focused on success including studying abroad (Spain), Honor Council member, full-time paid summer internship and one of the top GPA's on a very smart, dedicated team."
The Wildcats will entertain Duquesne Friday at 5:30 p.m., before hosting UMass Sunday at 1 p.m.
