DAVIDSON, N.C.
– The Davidson field hockey team will play its final two games of the season when the Wildcats welcome VCU on Friday before heading to Richmond on Sunday.

About Davidson
Davidson comes into its last weekend searching for its second Atlantic 10 win. In total, eight Wildcats have at least a point this season, led by junior Melissa Funsten and sophomore Becca Jones's eight points (3g, 2a). Sophomore Katherine English and freshman Dodi Allocca have each found the back of the net twice to round out Davidson's leading scorers.

In the cage, junior Emily Leytham has controlled many games for the Wildcats, earning her first career shutout victory this season. In 17 starts, Leytham has accumulated 133 saves, while allowing 38 goals, for a .778 save percentage and 2.93 goals allowed per game average, both near the top in the Atlantic 10.

Last Time Out
The Wildcats stumbled at Belk Turf Field to Saint Francis, 3-0, Oct. 24. Davidson held off the Red Flash for the first 35 minutes as Emily Leytham made two saves to keep the Wildcats within striking distance. Saint Francis scored three times in the second stanza to pull away.

When It All Comes Together
It each of Davidson's wins this season the team's defense has been the driving reason for success. The Wildcats posted a 2-1 win over Rider (Sept. 6) before blanking Saint Louis 1-0 (Oct. 4). Davidson has allowed 1.50 goals per game in wins and boasts a .938 save percentage during victories.

About VCU

Victories have been hard to come by for VCU, as the Rams enter the weekend with a 4-12 overall record.  In their last five games, VCU is 2-3 with its most recently victory coming at home on Oct. 24 against William & Mary. Kendell Combs leads the charge with four goals and two assists for 10 points.  She's followed closely by Nicola Breeman's three goals. Spencer Tossone and Alexis Albright have found the back of the net twice to round out the scorers for VCU.

Kendall Clifton has seen every minute in goal for the Rams this season. Clifton owns a .650 save percentage on the season.

About Richmond
Richmond sports a 9-8 overall record, but remains in the top four in the Atlantic 10 with a 5-2 mark. The Spiders only conference loss came on Oct. 24 versus Lock Haven. The out-of-conference schedule for Richmond has been quite daunting, as it is 1-3 in matchups against ranked teams.

The Spiders are led by Becca Barry, who has notched eight goals and three assists for 19 points in 14 games.  Amy Cooke has totaled 10 points (3g, 4a) with Emma Johansson chipping in nine points (3g, 3a) to round out the top-three Spider scorers.

Kelly Wentling has started 13 of the Spiders' 14 games in 2014, recording 48 saves, while allowing just 17 goals.  The senior has already posted six shutouts this season, allowing just an average of just 1.51 goals per game in cage with a save percentage of .738.
