
Davidson Takes Fourth at Charlotte Invite

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Erin Osment once again paced the squad as the Davidson women's cross country team took fourth place in the gold 6k race at the Charlotte Invitational, hosted by the Charlotte 49ers at McAlpine Park Saturday morning.
The Wildcats scored 140 points in taking fourth place in the 30-team race. Mississippi State was the overall winner with 58 points, followed by host Charlotte in second with 61 points and North Florida in third with 76 points.
Osment took fifth overall in the gold race, claiming her third top-10 finish of the season. She crossed the finish line in 21:37.40. Jenny Fritz also continued her stellar freshman season, taking 17th in a time of 21:59.70.
"It was a great race for our team," said head coach Jen Straub. "Hayden Bates had a tremendous breakthrough race. I'm very happy with how we competed. We had a really complete race."
Bates finished 30th overall in the gold race, running a 22:24.10. She was followed by Manya Swick in 43rd with a time of 22:44.70. Brigid Behrens ran a time of 22:46.60 to take 45th overall while Caroline Turner claimed 62nd in a time of 23:03.90. Sarah Paddon finished in 23:15.20 to grab 72nd place and round out the Davidson competitors in the gold race.
In the green race, Rachel McKay led the way with a ninth place finish. She recorded a time of 23:37.50 and was followed by Lauren Carter in 23rd place with a time of 24:54.30. Ali Cobb took 66th place in a time of 27:27.80.
The Wildcats will take a break before traveling to Alabama in mid-October. The squad will take part in the Crimson Classic, hosted by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Oct. 18. Hanna
