Rau slammed down two more kills to set up set point for the Wildcats before a Davidson error and a kill by Davis extended the life of the Panthers. In the end, the freshman duo combined for the point as Emily Franklin came up with a kill on a set by Derochie to ensure the Wildcats the 25-23 win.
Davidson took a tentative lead in the second set, going up 7-3 on a kill from Derochie. Consecutive kills from Pisel kept the advantage in favor of the Wildcats at 13-8, and several Panther miscues, combined with a block from Rau and Sewell, extended the 'Cats' lead to eight at 18-10. High Point came together for a late rally that featured three straight kills by Davis, but the damage was done and Davidson took the set 25-22 on a kill from Sewell to lead the match 2-0.
High Point took the first three points of the third set, but the Wildcats quickly overcame them to take an 11-8 lead on a kill from Brown. The Panthers used several Davidson errors to make it a one-point set at 15-14, but Davidson remained a step ahead. Davis and Pisel traded kills as the 'Cats lead 20-18 before 4-0 points, all served up by Brown, set Davidson up for the win. They would then claim the set 25-20 on an attacking error to win the match 3-0.
