GREENSBORO, N.C. – Davidson junior Andrew Lantz placed 18th in the quarterfinals of the 800-meter run Friday evening at the NCAA Men's Track & Field East Region Championship hosted by North Carolina A&T at Irwin Belk Track in Aggie Stadium.
Competing in the third-and-final heat, Lantz placed seventh in the group in 1:51.84. The 12th-and-final qualifying time for the NCAA Finals was 1:49.32.
Lantz completed the 800m in a school-record 1:50.09 seconds in the first round Thursday, placing fourth in his heat and 20th overall, and advancing to the quarters as the second fastest of runners who finished outside the Top 3 of their heat. He is the first Wildcat to advance a round at the NCAA Regionals.
Lantz was the final Wildcat across all sports competing during the 2012-13 season for Davidson.
