DAVIDSON, N.C. – Head women's track & field coach Jen Straub and her squad will travel to Statesboro, Ga., this weekend for the 2013 Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Georgia Southern Saturday and Sunday.
The meet will begin Saturday at 8 a.m. with the men's decathlon events, followed by the women's heptathlon at 8:30 a.m. The championships will conclude with an award ceremony scheduled for 5:45 Sunday evening.
The event is free to the public. Live results, daily recaps, photos and video highlights can be found on the SoCon website.
The Wildcats enter the meet coming off a strong performance at last weekend's Carolina's Cup. Both Sarah Paddon and Olivia Menden claimed wins at the meet, with Paddon taking top honors 1,500-meter run and Menden matching her feat in the 800-meter event.
A total of 13 individual performances and one relay from the 2013 season have made their marks in program history, entering the all-time top-10 rankings. A trio of 'Cats enters the meet just shy of program records in their respective events. Menden's time of 2L15.56 in the 800-meter is just over two second off of the program record in the event, while Paddon remains less than one second away from a new school mark in the 1,500-meter run with a career best of 4:37.18. Presley Parkes also ranks second in program history in the mile at 5:14.79, though the SoCon meet will not feature that event.
